AnimeUSA Secured

Wow. I haven’t updated in a long while. 0_0 It seems writer’s block has affected my blogging too. >< Oh well. I’m just hear to say that AnimeUSA has been secured. Although it got off to a shaky start, this year’s con circuit for me has worked out a lot better than I can imagine and seems it will end with a bang when VERSAILLES comes to AUSA!!! I died when I read that. Literally. My heart has only skipped a beat three times in my life; that time it skipped several. LOL. I’m really excited. Not to mention all the fun I’m going to have at T-Mode in September; I really need to gather my money and wits.

As always, the costumes continue to be the same though I have a super special costume in planning from my new favorite anime series… Gankutsuou! Yes I know…. I’m late but never late than never. It was just fortunate I found the box set since it was a Geneon title. My three quest finally ended and I enjoyed every moment of it. But I digress. The award winning Rose Bride costume returns to AUSA along with the movie version and school uniform. Hopefully I can snag a new wig so I can do the TV version at last (I really don’t want to use the new one I brought for Anime Mid-Atlantic because it looks so nice as it is). Also, I’ll get to see all my friends again and both AUSA and T-Mode have balls this year. My con circuit is going out with a bang this year! WH00T!

I have to update my Utena page with the new pictures and costumes. I know I say this a lot but hopefully now I can update this more often? ^^

T-Mode Secured

Well, it looks like I’ll be going to T-Mode this September for sure. Not only did I get a 3-day pass but I paid a little extra for an otaku passport. This thing sounds pretty sweet; it has awesome perks like VIP treatment, brunch with the guests, discount off of next year and more. 0_0 Yeah… I don’t wanna get too excited about it until I understand fully what this passport allows the lucky 25 holders to do but it just sounds pretty awesome. I’m really happy I get to go; I’m looking forward to T-Mode just as much as AnimeUSA a month after that (October). Of course, I’ll be in full Anthy regalia for both cons and both of them are having balls this year. ^_^ Viva la Anime Conventions!

Anime Mid-Atlantic: The Short Version

A MORE COMPREHENSIVE VERSION WILL COME LATER ON TODAY 6-17

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Anime Mid-Atlantic 2008…. did not turn out how I imagined. It actually was a hell of a lot better than I thought it would be; I guess all my worrying was for naught. Though in a small hotel during a smoky weekend in Virginia Beach, I met a lot of cool people, brought some awesome things, watched some pretty good anime and even was complimented by Vic Mignogna after winning 2nd place in the Fan Favorites Hall Costume Contest. I guess that fact was the highlight of my weekend, my first semi-hall costume contest prize. Mostly, I just had fun hanging out with people in lines and watching stuff in the video rooms. It was a time for me to reflect on my short but fulfilling cosplay career and pretty much was practice for T-Mode and AnimeUSA later this year. Overall, compared to last year (even though I had a reason to go last year) 7.5 out of 10 in my books. I was left with a strange feeling afterwards… satisfaction? triumph? Who knows, I just feel better about things this year than last year even though… as I said… things could have gone in a totally different direction. Thank goodness they didn’t. Alright… full recap version of AMA 2008 coming up later today! Ciao!

Anime Mid-Atlantic: DAY 0

It’s Thursday afternoon in sunny Virginia Beach, Virginia and already I’ve read through all the stuff in the hotel room, unpacked and found up some vital information for tomorrow. The only thing I have left to do is my manicure for my nails and pick up my pre-reg stuff. I have no expectations and merely wonder what this weekend will bring; all my horoscopes have conflicting predictions, lol. Even though the con has yet to start, I have already received on compliment on my costumes (which I haven’t even worn yet) and one person in passing was naming my costumes. =^_^= I can’t wait to walk around in them this weekend; Rose Bride for life and there might even be an Utena and… Saionji there too. YAY! LOL. Until tomorrow.

Countdown

Anime Mid-Atlantic is in another 72 hours! I’m almost ready. My costumes arrived safe and sound this afternoon and they both are extremely wonderful. All that is left is for me to do is finish my wigs and shoes and pack! ^_^ I’m still not excited about this con as I would be say if it were Katsucon or Otakon, but I’m looking forward to just getting away for a while and hanging out with some new friends (and the two other Utena cosplayers that will be there, lol)

ZOMG! An Update 0_0

Eeep.

Adjusting to home seems to have taken a little longer than expected, ne? “Daijoubu, Daijoubu” as Abel Nightroad once said, teehee. Anyway, things have been going in a direction I did not foresee. I’m procrastinating on getting everything ready for Anime Mid-Atlantic. There was a slight mishap with my new costumes but hopefully it will all work out. Other than that, I’ve been pretty lazy. Slothfulness is not good. ^o^

Well, now that I’ve broken my silence, perhaps I can get this thing back up to speed. So I’ll start with a little note about the Vampire Knight manga. I know many people have read the whole thing online already years and years ago, but this month’s portion in Shoujo Beat was amazing. There is a reason why I love this series so much (Kaname-sama) and the anime is up to arc featuring “that woman”…. I couldn’t stand her and she’s even more annoying in the anime!!! (Which is weird since the anime is doing a good job with sticking to the manga plot-line)

Last week’s episode of Junjou Romantica (Ep. 9) was kawaii. I was slightly jealous of Hiroki-chan because I have a kanji dictionary that big and I can’t use it as effectively (if at all ^^; ) as he can. I know I know…. weird… but it’s the truth. Koi! <3

That’s all for now. I’m styling my new wigs for the convention hoping everything goes well for this new cosplay contest AMA is having. It’s like the Hall Costume Contest but it’s for those of us who can’t sew (FINALLY). As soon as I get a few pictures of me as Anthy again, I’ll post them here in the Fantasia of the Rose section.

Ja ne!

Anime Mid-Atlantic

… still have no idea why I am going this year. I’m slightly pissed now because Otakon announced that JAM Project is their musical guest. T.T So why did I original want to go to Anime Mid-Atlantic? The original reason was because it was going to be a heck of a lot closer, Arlington, VA. However, it got kicked out of the hotel and moved to Virgina Beach. So, my next reason was that I’ve never been to Virginia Beach so I might as well go. Such a weak excuse. >< The con isn’t appealing to me right now, other than they announced on cosplay.com they are trying out an alternative hall costume contest for those of us who are sewing-machine-challenged. Other than that, I decided against doing karaoke at this con and I generally have the same feeling of dread I had about Katsucon… and Katsucon was nearly a disaster. Not completely… but very close to being one; the second worse con experience ever only topped by Otakon 2005 for the simple fact that I barely remember Otakon 2005. Weird.

So, I’m going to Anime Mid-Atlantic because I need a summer con that is slightly less-expensive than Otakon (though, I’m still trying to sneak that in somehow because I really wanna see JAM Project), I wanna go to the beach and… well… that’s it for now. I have to wait until September to catch up with Johnny Yong Bosch again (unless I put money down for that new Bleach card game with the special voice actor signatures on them… unless they are Japanese voice actor signatures… any voice actor signature is a star in my book =^_^=) and my main con for this year besides disaster-con in February will be the awesome AnimeUSA on Columbus Day weekend! YAY!!! I can’t wait until October.

The good thing about Anime Mid-Atlantic is that if it is anything like last year, the Utena cosplayers will have free reign over the con. Plus, it seems the Ghost in the Shell cosplayers are emerging this year and some other cosplays from anime/games I haven’t heard off. I personally am now on a Code Geass kick now… of course I’ll be watching the Bleach cosplayers, looking for Trinity Blood & Vampire Knight cosplayers and finally all us Utena people out there (w00t for Utena!). So I’ll be parading around in my various incarnations of Anthy handing out roses and I guess taking pictures for once. Don’t ask, I have mixed feelings about Anime Mid-Atlantic. It will either be okay or it won’t be okay. It doesn’t matter, I still have AnimeUSA to look forward too.

BTW, my two Anthy wigs and one Inuyasha/Yazoo wig came in the mail last week. They are all very awesome!!!!!

Cosplay Update

Ugh. Finals are coming up so school is starting to kick my but. T_T However, that won’t stop me from my cosplay ventures!!! At long last, I order my new set of wigs! Yay! I ordered a wig for Movie Anthy that I will try my hardest to cut and style those bangs. I also went ahead and got a replacement for regular TV Anthy and will probably use the old wig to put up in that bun/roll. Finally, I also got a new InuYasha/Yazoo wig. When I ordered it, I had a dilemma in my head whether it is possible to use it for both characters. I think it will be. Besides, I just need it as an InuYasha wig for one little photoshoot and then probably it will be my primary Yazoo wig.

Other than the wigs, I’m debating whether to draw or use gems for Movie Rose Bride’s bindi. I like drawing it on but maybe I’ll up the style and find some gems to use. Hmmm. I also need to finish my school shoes. I have the base, but I need to add the the cuffs (the little white part with the gold buttons) to them. That won’t be too hard. Then once that is done and the photoshoot is complete late May/early June, I can spend a few days deciding which version of Anthy I’ll be on what day when I go to Anime Mid-Atlantic. XD I’m so happy, I am slowly starting to realize my dream. This will mark the completion of three more version of Anthy (Movie school uniform, movie rose bride, TV school uniform) in addition to TV/artbook rose bride. After I return from Japan, I’m going to get a Chu Chu. XD
