Ah, progress is good. There are only what, 16 to 17 days before Otakon? Phew. I’m excited to be returning but wow, I haven’t felt that rush of “omg omg omg! the wig isn’t done. I need to do these shoes over again. is my prop okay? do I have all my make-up. hairpins! i need hairpins!” for a long time. Taking a break off from serious conventioning last year really threw me for a loop. I must get back into the swing of things and I’m making my comeback in a big way.

Once again for Ota, I’ll be cosplaying as Anthy from Shoujo Kakumei Utena/Revolutionary Girl Utena. This year, I’m doing the TV versions of the Rose Bride and Anthy and the movie version of the Rose Bride. I’ve never done the TV versions before so I’m really excited. Also, to make this extra special, I now have a pair of beautiful green contacts (that I just practiced with). I’ve never worn contacts before so it was a little scary but the end result was entrancing. I couldn’t stop looking at my own eyes! LOL. Who know that a different eye color could make such a big change. Once I get used to putting them in (taking them out was a breeze), I’ll definitely be in the market to getting some more… namely lavender, amber, red, and mako green (i.e. Kadaj’s eye color). But for now, I’m very satisfied with my product!!! They’ll also come in handy once Mamiya arrives later this year. ^_^

Besides Otakon at the end of the month, this Saturday, I’m heading over to the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. to see the Star Wars in Concert show. According to my dear friend Sam, yesterday (7.13) was “Express Your Geekness Day”. I totally missed it so I’m expressing it now. GO STAR WARS GO! ^.^ I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve always wanted to go to a concert like this, especially after listening to the Evangelion Live Concert of 2001. It sounded like it was a once in a life time thing and the pictures in the insert reinforced that feeling. Yet another thing on my bucket list that will soon be crossed off. I need to think of more things to put on that list… I’m not ready to die yet but in the past few years, I’ve accomplished so much! Waaaaaah! @_@

Mata ne!

Ah, at long last- it is finally AUSA time. I’m so happy. After the stressful week of school work and exams, I’m ready to escape from this world and become someone else for a few days. ^.^ Well actually, it’s would be a slight transition, lol. Anyway, with AUSA a day away from starting, I’m just a few hours away from completing my costumes. All weekend long, I will be cosplaying as various incarnations of Anthy Himemiya with one special costume that was inspired by the artbook (see left). It won’t exactly the same color but it is of similar styling and all I have to do is add all of the roses to the dress… and perhaps find a better hoop than the one I have to give it a little extra flare and perhaps pick it up off the ground a bit (this is because I am vertically-challenged ><) Other than that special dress for the Kabuki Ball, I’ll be appearing in the red rose bride grown, the school uniform (movie) and the movie gown as well. Although I doubt I will get it done this time, I hope to have my contacts and a photoshoot  in the Kabuki Ball gown complete by New Years. YES, it will actually take that long to do all that because of school. ><

I’m also highly looking forward to the Versailles concert on Saturday as well. I was slightly disappointed to see that the time slot for the concert was so short but any length of time equals a once-in-a-lifetime must see moment. On top of that, I get to see two very good friends whom I have seen since earlier in the year and my friend from T-Mode (Sabira) will also be there… hopefully sharing some more stories about her time with NYAF. (She is one lucky girl) What else… [giest] will be there too, though I doubt I will challenge them (drummer Sai actually) to a rematch to test our manhood! XD

Voice actors, lots of music, friends and cosplay… yep, this is going to be a good weekend (hopefully). The economy might be suffering; the anime industry also might be slowing down; panic, fear and hate might be the emotions many are feeling right now but that is why anime cons exist…. to take away that pain… even if only lasts for the length of the convention. Oh who am I kidding, GO AUSA GO! WHOOO! CONVENTION TIME! LOL.

Anime Mid-Atlantic is in another 72 hours! I’m almost ready. My costumes arrived safe and sound this afternoon and they both are extremely wonderful. All that is left is for me to do is finish my wigs and shoes and pack! ^_^ I’m still not excited about this con as I would be say if it were Katsucon or Otakon, but I’m looking forward to just getting away for a while and hanging out with some new friends (and the two other Utena cosplayers that will be there, lol)

Cosplay Update

Ugh. Finals are coming up so school is starting to kick my but. T_T However, that won’t stop me from my cosplay ventures!!! At long last, I order my new set of wigs! Yay! I ordered a wig for Movie Anthy that I will try my hardest to cut and style those bangs. I also went ahead and got a replacement for regular TV Anthy and will probably use the old wig to put up in that bun/roll. Finally, I also got a new InuYasha/Yazoo wig. When I ordered it, I had a dilemma in my head whether it is possible to use it for both characters. I think it will be. Besides, I just need it as an InuYasha wig for one little photoshoot and then probably it will be my primary Yazoo wig.

Other than the wigs, I’m debating whether to draw or use gems for Movie Rose Bride’s bindi. I like drawing it on but maybe I’ll up the style and find some gems to use. Hmmm. I also need to finish my school shoes. I have the base, but I need to add the the cuffs (the little white part with the gold buttons) to them. That won’t be too hard. Then once that is done and the photoshoot is complete late May/early June, I can spend a few days deciding which version of Anthy I’ll be on what day when I go to Anime Mid-Atlantic. XD I’m so happy, I am slowly starting to realize my dream. This will mark the completion of three more version of Anthy (Movie school uniform, movie rose bride, TV school uniform) in addition to TV/artbook rose bride. After I return from Japan, I’m going to get a Chu Chu. XD
