Cosplay Update

Ugh. Finals are coming up so school is starting to kick my but. T_T However, that won’t stop me from my cosplay ventures!!! At long last, I order my new set of wigs! Yay! I ordered a wig for Movie Anthy that I will try my hardest to cut and style those bangs. I also went ahead and got a replacement for regular TV Anthy and will probably use the old wig to put up in that bun/roll. Finally, I also got a new InuYasha/Yazoo wig. When I ordered it, I had a dilemma in my head whether it is possible to use it for both characters. I think it will be. Besides, I just need it as an InuYasha wig for one little photoshoot and then probably it will be my primary Yazoo wig.

Other than the wigs, I’m debating whether to draw or use gems for Movie Rose Bride’s bindi. I like drawing it on but maybe I’ll up the style and find some gems to use. Hmmm. I also need to finish my school shoes. I have the base, but I need to add the the cuffs (the little white part with the gold buttons) to them. That won’t be too hard. Then once that is done and the photoshoot is complete late May/early June, I can spend a few days deciding which version of Anthy I’ll be on what day when I go to Anime Mid-Atlantic. XD I’m so happy, I am slowly starting to realize my dream. This will mark the completion of three more version of Anthy (Movie school uniform, movie rose bride, TV school uniform) in addition to TV/artbook rose bride. After I return from Japan, I’m going to get a Chu Chu. XD

D + Birth PV

I had an opportunity to watch the new D PV last night thanks to champ213 of Note, this is there first PV released since going major. It was wonderful. A lot of fans were worried for group since they decided to go major. However, it seems they were allowed to remain themselves. I’m sooooo relieved. It was a pretty PV; I wish I knew more Japanese so I could at least give you all a general overview of the song but alas…

Despite the language barrier, it was awesome to see lead singer Asagi with his angel wings again (haven’t seen those since Corvinus). My favorite part(s) don’t stem around Asagi for once! *le shock* I loved the shot of Ruiza and Hide-Zou playing their guitars back to back and Tsunehito’s bass solo was amazing. 0_0 Plus everyone (excluding Asagi) got a slightly tweaked hairstyle; they’re really nice. Overall, A+ PV… 10 out of 10

Now, for those of you who don’t know about D yet (shame on you) I’ll explain. D is a Japanese visual kei band who I believe came on the scene in 2003. They’ve been steadily gaining a following though you can still consider them an underground cult classic (excuse the terms seeing as how they have gone major). They had their own magazine called Mad Tea Party but stopped producing it upon going major. The members are:

Vocals: Asagi

Guitar: Hide-zou & Ruiza

Bass: Tsunehito

Drums: Hiroki

There have only been two ex-members, Sin and Rena. Rena left in 2005 and Tsunehito came in December of 2005. Their music is driving; the lyrics poetic and often romantic telling a wonderful gothic story about a vampire. (For more information about the extended story behind the lyrics, visit and join )

My favorite songs are “EDEN”, “Taiyou wo Okuru Hi”, “Gareki no Hana”, “Mayutsuki no Hitsugi”, “Sleep” and my all time favorite (soon to be Utena Movie AMV) “Yami Yori Kurai Doukoku no A Capella to Bara Yori Akai Jounetsu no Aria” (phew. long title, ne?)

If at all interested, check out their albums The Name of the Rose and Tafael Anatomie. Give D a chance and enjoy their new single “Birth” when it is released next month!

Anime Dark Ages? Maybe Not…

So Geneon went under. It seems that cataclysmic event set off a chain-reaction throughout the industry both state side and in Japan. It was dubbed “The Anime Dark Ages” by PiQ Magazine, which painted a dark and bleak future for the anime industry in the coming months. Even I was starting to wonder if it was true. I was running out of new content to watch. However, after a recent splurge at FYE in Washington D.C. I slowly came to realize the Anime Dark Ages might not be so dark after all. We still have ADV, Bandai, AnimeWorks and Funimation after all (I probably forgot a few more). There is still some interesting new stuff on the shelf. My favorites so far are Devil May Cry and Black Blood Brothers. I have yet to get Girl with the Blue Eye and even though they went under, there are still some Geneon titles floating around out there (even if they have become a bit more expensive). To top it all, Funimation seems to be making good on their promise to re-release Yu-Gi-Oh!. The second season box set is now available for purchase on So if you know where to look, you can still find good anime to watch.

Going across the Pacific, it seems the anime industry in Japan is showing signs that it still has what it takes. My new favorite manga Vampire Knight has a 26 episode series that premiered last Tuesday. Everyone’s favorite BLCD Junjou Romantica has also been adapted into a 24 episode series and premiered last Thursday (wait, I guess that means the second episode came on earlier this morning EST since it is now 3:30AM in Japan XD) Plus, this summer, the second OVA of Ikoku Irokoi Romantan by Ayano Yamane will be released. Then there is a bunch of other stuff happening, like people from Cowboy Bebop and DeathNote working on a Pokemon movie?! I skimmed through ANN this morning and saw a blurb about something going down with a Pokemon movie, lol.

It might be the Anime Dark Ages but it isn’t as dark as some people paint it to be. Besides, there’s always manga, VHD and Trinity Blood novels to read X3
